Hi Scott,

I am certain the short answer to your question is, "No." However, I got so frustrated with trying to make it work and then disable it, that I finally removed it from my libraries. It is one of the few modifications that I have made to the c-layer. The relatively minor service it performs was in no way worth the endless hassle it gave me when I was trying to make it behave itself.
