Hi,

I'm new to both VFP and Codebook and I have been reading a lot during the holidays. I have a question on the security system provided by CB6.1.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the CB security system assumes dedicated computer for each person. When more than one persons have to use the same computer for database processing, security becomes a problem. To be the most efficient, one should be able to be authenticated during a save or edit action instead of quitting the application and re-entering as it is now, which can be very time consuming for large system.

I think an intermediate measure is to allow someone to logout, but without leaving the application before leaving. The application is still loaded, but say, pads in the mainmenus and the toolbar are disabled (except the login button, of course). The next person who comes along only need to do a simple login and he will gain all his own rights based on his user name.

I'm wondering what is the simplest way to modify the existing system to accomodate this logout and re-login process without leaving the application. Any suggestions?

By the way, if this topic was mentioned before, but I missed out during the reading and searching, please accept my apology and kindly direct me to the correct link.

Many thanks.

Denis
