I don't have time to look properly right now, but I'm sure I can find the answer. Try changing the sparse setting of the column.
I'll have a better look later today.

<I><FONT COLOR="#663300">When I add a checkbox to a grid (by replacing the textbox in one of the columns), it is visible only if I click on the cell containing it (not the column even, just the selected cell) otherwise the column is blank. Any suggestions?</FONT></I>
