Been there. Done that. Access is an end-user desktop application. VFP is a development tool. All the first may have a shorter learning curve (although that was not my experience) you rather quickly start hitting the wall in performance and function. Ascending the learning curve to VFP will give you much greater power and flexibility.

If it has much complexity it will probably not run very well in VFP either. It depends on what the "upgrade" is. If the order is to "just give us the exact same functionality in VFP" then the powers that be probably need a little education. If you are tasked with adding any significant functionality, it will probably take less time to start from scratch. Part of learning Codebook is learning all the things that need to be done in a VFP application.
