As I have said, very much an amateur and I may be wrong on this but wouldn't you solve the problem by placing your own code in .onnew() of your own bizobj i.e. in previous question,
place it in bo_maintenance.onnew(). If there is no DODEFAULT() in your method then the problem code is not called.
