Hello all,
We have a municipal government package that requires us to print to a variety of non-uniform size forms. Most of them are 8.5 inches wide but the length (and issue here) varies from 11 inches to 7 inches to 3 forms per 11 inches (3.a ton of 6's inches).... Additionally, since they are forms, placement of the data fields is sometimes very tight. Under the older operating systems we were able to get away with defining our detail band to the size we needed and letting the jobs run (cleaning the printer specific information from the report files). Under XP (and 2000) this didn't work. We have switched over to defining a custom paper size under the server properties where the printer is installed. Then we have to modify the form on site (or at least interactively) so that the fields line up appropriately. Unfortunately, in mixed operating system environments, these custom forms are not accessible by the earlier operating systems.
2 Questions:
Has anyone dealt with this and is there an easy way to make the "generic" forms which we don't have to "tweak" for each installation to get the right placement of the fields?
Is there a way we can define the custom form on the XP box so that the 95/8 boxes can see the settings?
Thank you,
Rick Becker The Baldwin Group, Inc.
