I would suggest getting a web hosting service in addition to your

broadband connection. The hosting services (Linux based, of course)

give you some web space, host your mail services, and can give you some

global database access (MySQL).

I have my hosting through SmarterLinux.com for 100MB of space, mail,

etc. etc. for about $8/month. I know that there are several out there

that are less, for around $5 or $6 a month. (You may need to buy a

domain for around $20 a year as well.) Another thing I like with

SmarterLinux is that when you call them, you are talking to a human

being by the third ring. 90% of the time, that person that answered the

phone can answer your question / solve the problem.

I really like having my email address "unbundled" from my broadband

connection, in case I need to make a change.
